Oleg Maximov Quartet - Runner’s High
Runner's High - it's a state of the body accompanied by feelings of euphoria. Marathon runners know that drugged-like state after a long distance run. It comes as a body's response to pain. Then anger comes. Then acceptance. Relief. The Wall is laid behind, and here last kilometers come and finally you're high.

Recorda-me — Oleg Maximov Quartet
Recorda-me (Joe Henderson) is a jazz standard that is often played at jam sessions.
We play this tune often on jam sessions and don't even think what does the name mean. This word, modified into English manner, originally in Spanish written as "recuérdame" means "Remember me". We would like to be remembered as we are at this video.

My Funny Valentine — Oleg Maximov Quartet
My Funny Valentine — for many it’s just a jazz standard, one more beautiful ballad. But it's a personal song for me. Valentines are being presented for those who does not even know that they are being loved. But this valentine is different — She definitely knows, that this is for Her. But whom we actually love? Do we love a physically existing human being with merits and weaknesses? Or do we love a perfect image captured by our subconcious? I do not have a distinct answer, but I trully know that every time I play My Funny Valentine — I'm talking to loved woman.

Step Aside — Oleg Maximov Quartet
Step Aside is a tune written by a saxophonist Bob Reynolds with which he has somehow predicted the pandemic situation and the way to overcome all the difficulties. Suddenly the civilization has come into a not to get the choice situation when it's absolutely impossible to live a life we used to. Step Aside is a way to change habits, go away out of comfort zone and therefore to invent a solution for difficulties we face.

Blues for Sudzhian — Oleg Maximov original
It's a blues tune dedicated to my guitar teacher at Moscow State College of Jazz - Michael (Mukuch) Sudzhian, recorded live in the bar O.W.Grant on 14th of march 2021. When I was doing my second year at college I took part in a competition called "Many-faced Guitar". After passing into 3rd round I had to play a solo over blues. But the case was to grab a card with randomly written key, time signature and tempo. I've received a card with B major, 6/8, fast tempo. Of course, I screwed it up that time! But years go by, and now B major starting to be more comfortable key to play.

Oleg Maximov Quartet - Following Jazzmashin
Following Jazzmashin - it's a piece of music dedicated to Russian jazz musician and a huge fan of running - Alexander Mashin. One day Sasha proposed to carry out into nothingness a terrible year of 2020 by running a marathon distance on 31st of December. Of course, I've immediatley jumped into that adventure! During the first half of a distance it was raining. Than a temperature fall bellow 0 degrees Celsius, and everything what wasn't covered with snow, was covered with ice. We were running through Moscow, and somewhere after 30th kilometer I was completely out of energy. It was incredibly difficult, and I dreamt to stop hundred times. But Sasha was running a couple of meters ahead, and following jazzmashin I finally finished the distance!
